MBHS Scholastic Art Awards!

Categories: High School

February 10, 2025

The Scholastic Art Awards recognizes talent in different mediums of visual arts. Founded in 1923 the awards have celebrated creativity in teens throughout the country. Notable alumni include Andy Warhol, Tom Lichtenheld, and Robert Redford.

This year 6 artists were awarded 9 awards in the following categories: Drawing and Illustration, Painting, Ceramics, Sculpture and Portfolio. The portfolio award recognizes excellence in a body of work.

Gold and Silver Key work will be displayed at the Maine College of Art and Design in Portland from February 14th to March 8th when all artists will be honored at an awards ceremony.

Winning pieces are awarded by the Scholastic panel in categories of Gold Key, Silver Key, and Honorable Mention. Jurors look for works that exemplify the Awards’ core values of originality, skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision. Students who receive a Gold Key move on to compete at the national level.

Congratulations to our artists!
