Music Department
classroom Music
Classroom music is offered to all students in Kindergarten through 6th grade. Students sing, play instruments, create, listen to and describe music. Classes focus on building musical literacy, musical independence and team-based music making skills.

classroom performance ensembles
Band, Chorus, and Orchestra meet during the school day and are non-auditioned groups, meaning any interested Mt. Blue Regional School District student may participate. At the middle school and high school level there are additional performance-based opportunities, such as exploratory ensembles (middle school), state and local honors festivals (middle & high school) and auditioned after school ensembles (high school only - Chamber Singers, Franklin County Fiddlers, Jazz Band, Mt. Blue Voices). Please read and take note of the audition policy below.

after school performance ensembles - auditioned
Members of the Chamber Singers, Franklin County Fiddlers, Jazz Band, and Mt. Blue Voices are selected by audition. Students wishing to participate in an auditioned music ensemble affiliated with Mt. Blue Regional School District must be members in good standing in the corresponding classroom course (Band, Chorus, Orchestra) and must obtain the recommendation of the course teacher in order to audition. Those auditioning for participation in the fall must be good standing members in the corresponding course the prior academic year. In certain circumstances, membership qualification is up to teacher discretion.
Students wishing to audition for festivals or ensembles such as KV, All-State, Jazz All-State, Mid-Maine Youth Orchestra or Maine Acoustic Festival must also be members in good standing in the corresponding course (Band, Chorus, Orchestra).
